Postcards from the past
Visiting and holiday-making have played an important role in the history of the villages which dot the shoreline of the Gareloch and the Rosneath Peninsula. Thus postcards from here are a fascinating historical source, telling us something about the visitors and their holidays, as well as showing the villages and landscape as they saw them.
The postcards shown in these Web pages are selections from a collection of local history material amassed over the years by local historian, Alistair McIntyre. We thank him for permission to reproduce and display postcards here.
NOTE: Please be aware that the image files of postcards are not small and may take some seconds to display. But for a little patience you will be amply rewarded with some very interesting photographs.
