Lotto cheque for Route 81
THE youngsters of Route 81, the highly sucessful youth organisation in Garelochhead, welcomed some special guests recently.
Colin Stewart and Gillian Barclay of Our Town Lotto and Our Town Lotto Trust, visited them at their new youth and community hub, Centre 81, with a cheque for £450.
Youth project worker Val Flannigan said: "We are absolutely delighted to have been successful with out application, especially as this is the first round of funding awards.
"We applied for funding towards the cost of providing food hygiene training for some of our workers and volunteers, which would not only benefit them personally but also benefit the project.
"Our junior volunteers wish to provide a service to the community in the way of providing 'kids parties' within the centre and to enable them to do the catering a food hygiene certificate is essential."
She added: This venture will not only build the junior volunteers' confidence and self-esteem but also improve good citizenship skills and personal life skills as well as helping to develop basic enterprise skills.
"We are also including some staff members and volunteers in this training programme to all them to help with these parties and also be able to cater for other fund raising events."
