The Garelochhead and Rosneath peninsula area holds a number of communities grouped around the main villages. These villages have their own distinctive life, but there is also significant movement between them of people from one part of the area involved in other products and using the resources of the whole area.

There is a rich range of services and resources both for local people and for a visitors to the area.  There are four churches.  There is a variety of places to stay, to eat and drink. The shops can provide for all basic needs and much else besides.  There are local businesses which service local needs and activities, and other businesses which provide a service nationally and internationally.

Like any other group of communities across the country, the area has a range of public services, including education, health and care services and has a wealth of public and voluntary sector provision.  A number of community groups also exist to maintain and improve the environment and community life.
